Intended use: Nesmuk wooden boards are ideal cutting surfaces. The heartwood pieces, cut from the oldest and most valuable part of a tree trunk, are cut across the grain and offer several advantages: The vertical alignment of the fibers protects the cutting edge because it "splits" the fibers rather than cutting through them, as would be the case with horizontally aligned wood fibers. In addition to the attractive appearance of the visible annual rings, end-grain wooden boards are also warp-free, antibacterial, and absorb and release liquids better.
